Be surprised by Kanta! They offer a result that is precise and detailed sound, brimming with warmth and musicality. Focal offers a hitherto unknown amalgamation of technologies, the marriage of Beryllium in the latest generation IAL3 tweeter, with Flax for the midrange and bass drivers. This is the start of a new era for those who love sound...
Kanta offers a wide range of colour combinations to fit into every interior space. The cabinet is available in High Gloss black lacquer or Walnut. For each of these cabinet finishes, there are four front panels colours. The High Gloss black lacquer cabinet has Gloss finished front panels, while the Walnut cabinet offers Matt finished front panels. With the Kanta in the High Gloss black cabinet, the four front panel options are Carrara White, Gauloise Blue, Solar Yellow and Black Lacquer (all High Gloss). The Kanta in the Walnut cabinet, the four front panel options are Ivory, Warm Taupe, Gauloise Blue and Dark Grey (all Matt Finishes).
Our engineers have made history, for the very first time a Flax sandwich cone speaker has been combined with a Beryllium tweeter. Flax is the answer to the low mass/rigidity/damping equation, delivering sound clarity and precision. This unique Flax/Beryllium combination gives music incredible warmth and musicality. Made in France, the patented flax cone has already proven itself in Focal home and in-car speakers. The midrange speaker uses TMD (Tuned Mass Damping) suspension, and every Kanta speaker is also equipped with an NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) motor, which stabilises the magnetic field for perfectly defined sound and better controlled bass.
‘Focus Time’ is a concept revisited by Focal’s engineers on the Kanta project. The concept corrects speaker alignment, making each speaker driver the same distance from the ear based on the velocity of the differing sound waves. The cabinet is made of a single-piece of integrally moulded wood, the wooden cabinet integrates beautifully and functionally into the front baffle, creating and incredibly rigid structure, when combined with the Zamac base (Zinc, Aluminium, Magnesium, and Copper alloy) delivers masses of musicality and detail. With its spikes and cups, the Zamac base provides great stability from a very small footprint. Final details the glass-covered top and magnetic grilles. When these are removed, they reveal the speakers' flax cones, the final design touch that gives Kanta its unique look.
Kanta is designed and made to create acoustic softness and warmth, from the density and stiffness of the front panel and cabinet materials, to its softened angles and double port vents. Focal have developed new materials to suit the acoustic parameters for the front panel, it is moulded in one piece from High Density Polymer (HDP). This material has excellent performance and is 70% denser than traditionally used MDF. It is also 15% stiffer and provides 25% more damping. The one-piece front panel totally eliminates any sound diffraction. Further enhancing performance, Kanta models incorporate Power Flow technology, using two vents, one on the front and rear faces, designed to limit bass compression. Kanta is for Music Lovers.
Focal's research is focussed on reducing distortion in every register. With Kanta, the treble register is reproduced by a new pure Beryllium tweeter, the IAL3. The IAL3 tweeter combines the IAL (Infinite Acoustic Loading) and IHL (Infinite Horn Loading) tweeters features, both of which help with the absorption of waves, thus enabling the tweeter to reach lower in the frequency range. A challenge that has eluded all engineers until now, listen to Focal.
