After three years of research, Focal engineers have combined key exclusive technologies, the marriage of Beryllium, in the next generation IAL3 tweeter (Infinite Acoustic Loading), and Flax (a natural grass fibre sourced from Normandy, France), for the midrange and bass speaker drivers. The result? A precise, detailed sound, brimming with warmth and musicality. It is the start of a new era for those who love sound!
Kanta’s bold look puts the finishing touch on this acoustic masterpiece. The resolutely modern and bewitching design, intrigues even the most aesthetic conscious buyers. With eight front panel colour options, gloss or matt cabinet options. Kanta has become a veritable, ultra-stylish, designer object that will become the star of your interior, envy of your friends and saviour of your sonic sanity
Made in France, the patented flax cone has already proven itself in Focal home and in-car speakers. The midrange speaker uses TMD (Tuned Mass Damping) suspension, this improves stability of the driver throughout the frequency range, reducing distortion. Kanta speakers are also equipped with an NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) motor, this stabilises the magnetic field at the business end of the driver, enabling perfectly defined sound and superior controlled bass.
Everything is designed and made to optimise acoustic performance, the density and stiffness of the front panel and cabinet materials, softened angles and ported vents. The front panel is constructed of a new material, chosen to suit our acoustic parameters, it is moulded in one piece from High Density Polymer (HDP). This material has excellent performance, it is 70% denser, 15% stiffer and provides 25% more damping than tradition materials, including MDF. This one-piece front panel eliminates any sound diffraction. Kanta incorporates Power Flow technology with two vents, one on the front and one on the rear faces, this limits bass compression.
Distortion is the enemy of every loudspeaker, it negatively impacts the sound and experience of the music, something Focal's engineers strive to eliminate in every register. With Kanta, the treble register is reproduced by a newly developed pure Beryllium tweeter, the IAL3 tweeter. The IAL3 tweeter combines both the IAL (Infinite Acoustic Loading) and IHL (Infinite Horn Loading) features, both of which help with the absorption of distortive waves, thus enabling the tweeter to reproduce lower frequencies by up to 600Hz lower than Focal’s Chorus range.
Focal’s engineers have also revisited their theory of ‘Focus Time’ with Kanta, this design corrects speaker driver alignment, making them the same distance from the ear, relative to the speed at which sound frequencies travel through the air.
Kanta offers a wide range of colour combinations to fit into every interior space. The cabinet is available in High Gloss black lacquer or Walnut. For each of these cabinet finishes, there are four front panels colours. The High Gloss black lacquer cabinet has Gloss finished front panels, while the Walnut cabinet offers Matt finished front panels.
